Beta opens September 17: which pack actually gets you in
The $29.99 Heroic Pack unlocks the Skyborne but not the beta. Here is what each Forever edition includes, and the reporting conflict worth knowing about.
The World of Warcraft: Forever beta opens tomorrow, September 17, and runs through October 21, with characters capped at level 30.
The thing to get right before you buy: the cheapest paid edition does not include beta access. The names make this easy to miss.

Skyborne Heroic Pack — $29.99. Unlocks the Skyborne race and its Zephras Isle starting experience, early name reservation, the Cerulean Prideclaw mount, cosmetic garb, a rucksack, a toy, housing decor, and one Invite-A-Friend code. No beta.
Skyborne Epic Pack — $59.99. Everything above, plus beta access from September 17, 30 days of Game Time starting November 4, extra cosmetics, tabards and pets, and three Invite-A-Friend codes. This is the cheapest way into the beta.
Warcraft Forever Collection — $79.99. The Epic Pack plus Warcraft III: Reforged with its new Forsaken Kingdom campaign, and more housing decor. Reported as available only through January 11, 2027.
A fourth tier at $150.00 appeared in the September 12 US store listings. Its contents have not been detailed in the coverage I can verify, so I am not going to guess at them.
A reporting conflict worth knowing about
Early coverage — a Warcraft Tavern report in particular — stated that beta access came with any active subscription. Blizzard's own product page contradicts this, and the paid Epic and Collection packs are the only routes confirmed by official sources.
If you are deciding what to buy on the strength of that subscription claim, don't. Check the official store page directly before spending anything.
What you can actually do in the beta
The level 30 cap is the important constraint. It means the beta covers:
- Zephras Isle in full, the Skyborne 1–12 experience
- Early and mid-level reworked talent trees, but not the 31-point capstones
- The new rendering pipeline and the HD/SD toggle across low-level zones
It does not cover Mount Hyjal, either new raid, most of the Riverglades, or level-60 builds. Anyone hoping to evaluate endgame before launch will be disappointed — this is a levelling test.
Given that Forever's entire design argument is that the 1–60 journey is the game, testing exactly that range is a defensible choice.
